1% Better

1% Better

In the Nicholson household we live by the simple motto of getting 1% better everyday, at minimum. It doesn't matter if it is a new hobby, our careers, the sport the boys are playing; whatever it is we have to work on it a little each and every day. In my opinion, this helps us create the mindset of enjoying the process. It also helps us stay focused and be able to make calculated decisions in life.

We aren't going to figure it all out today. We won't be the best we can be today, or ever, with this motto. If we master this "chapter" or "phase" we have to continue to work. That's where the greatness lies! On the other hand, in those moments of struggle, the motto stays the same. With all change there comes challenges. Learning to fight or work through those challenges makes us better, too.

1% better everyday helps us stay mentally focused, mentally prepared and mentally tough. Opportunities aren't always right at the end of each chosen path. Sometimes we have to go searching for each win. Sometimes we have to take it! Being focused each day on our goals allows us to be ready for each opportunity to capture a win.

When we hit those walls within the process, and we will hit walls, they don't have to be busted down like we are the Juggernaut. If it requires us to remove it one brick at a time, then we remove it one brick at a time. When I was younger I would attempt to run through every wall. Often times putting me on my ass. As I got older I began to enjoy the process. One brick at a time. Even more so when I have people in my corner to help my push through that wall.

Life does not have to be overcomplicated. Once we become a "player" or declare ourselves to a goal, we must perfect the craft. 1% better each day. We have to live in the present moving toward future goals, learned from past experiences. Manifest exactly what it is YOU want and go make that happen! I love teaching this mindset to the kids because they are kids! They need to know you can navigate through life without having all the answers.

I am about to be 35 years old. I've never been that old, I've never held the position I am trying to get promoted to, I've never had 3 kids at the ages they will be this year, I've never had all this in life while being a husband. This motto is to focus on "figuring" it out by enjoying the process. Life doesn't begin inside of our comfort zone, it begins on the outskirts of it, expanding that comfort zone all through new experiences.
